My name is Courtney Leigh Barbee. I am a firecracker baby, born July 4th 1990, in Durham, North Carolina. I have lived in the same house my whole life and love being home. I am a Christian and love God! I went to Northern High School in Durham where I cheered all four years and I also danced at Nina’s School of Dance for 13 years. I have recently gotten into running and have competed in several 5k runs. I am a junior at Appalachian State, majoring in Elementary Education, with a minor in Art. I love children and being creative which would explain these choices. I currently am employed at Merle Norman Cosmetics as a beauty consultant and the Appalachian Child Development Center, working in the toddler room. I am an easy going person who loves to laugh and have a good time. My favorite thing to do is to sing loud in the car to my country music. I love animals! I have a cat named Malley, a bunny named Pumpkin, and my boyfriend’s dog Ralphie, who I love as my own. I love the water and any place warm, but I also love the mountains which is why I am here at App!

My name is Ashley Chavis and I am a 22-year-old student, majoring in Elementary Education. I am lived an interesting life so far; my dad is in the military so I have lived in many different places including: Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, and even Germany. I have two sisters, Amanda (21) and Bri (8). They are two of the most important people in my life and I would do absolutely anything for them. A few other random facts about me are I love animals, my friends are very important to me, I wouldn’t be who I am today without God playing a huge role in my life, and I really enjoy shopping! I moved to Boone in August of 2007 for college and it has been one of the best, if not the best, experiences of my life. I finally have a place that truly feels like home.

My name is Mrs. Ferrell. This is my 19th year teaching technology/computer courses in the College of Education. Prior to teaching at ASU, I taught biology, computers, and math at Watauga High School. I enjoy kayaking, hiking, biking, swimming, tennis, and writing. I also travel to adventurous places whenever possible! I have an 18-year old son who goes to FSU and I live in Boone with my husband and an energetic black lab named Lucy.
