I am my own and take care of my own
I come from little old Mayberry
The idyllic and simple town
Though I am not simple-minded and naïve
I am more than what you make of me and
See more than you think that I do
I have seen life be given and taken away
Watching with painful breath
I am able to tell you how it feels
Worlds colliding and falling to pieces
Battle after battle still moving on
Though scars remain and remind
I am in the belief that
Lost love lingers in unspoken words
Of the heart and
That the truth must always be heard
I am from the Quaker church on the hill
And Sunday suppers with my nanny Jo
Smells of tobacco in the den
Children laughing in the yard
I am living my life as it was meant to be
Tattoos of stars and bible verses to serve
As reminders of dreams and hope
In times of need
I am constantly worried about all things
And have to remind myself to breathe
No one tells the young how
Stressful life can be
I am brick by brick and piece by piece
Living my life and looking forward
The glass will be half full and the
Journey worth while
