My name is Emily Edwards, born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, but raised next door to Greensboro since I was two. I loved growing up in Greensboro. I live close enough to downtown to easily get there in ten minutes, but likewise for the country. I live near almost any restaurant I can imagine, as well as endless stores. Luckily, I grew up somewhere extremely diverse, and didn’t even recognize much of a difference in color of skin until I was in middle school. I was extremely active in my church growing up, for as long as I can remember. I was always staff at events, helping out and leading as much as I could. I truly felt outgoing when I was working with my youth group. In middle school I ran track and played lacrosse, which continued into high school. I was also very active in Young Life in high school, spending a month working at a camp after I graduated. I had the hardest time deciding between Carolina and Appalachian State for college, but it was eventually the friendly manner that won me over, and I haven’t regretted it yet. I have been Elementary Education from the get-go, and have found some wonderful friends through it. I love spending time with my friends; it seems like all we ever do is laugh. I love finding captivating stories to read, they’ve helped me escape through a hectic and busy life. Most importantly, I wake up every day making the decision to love life and everyone or everything in it as much as I can, the way that Christ loves me. Without him, I am nothing.

I am friendly and joyful
I wonder if I’ll fall in love
I hear Santa’s sleigh bell.
I see the Land of Oz
I want to never stop imagining
I am friendly and joyful

I pretend I’m in the books I read
I feel angel rays
I touch the sunshine
I worry about the safety of others
I cry for broken hearts
I am friendly and joyful

I understand the value of friendship
I say Christ has overcome the world
I dream about what my life could be
I try to be dependable
I am friendly and Joyful
