I am from a small town without any stop lights. I am from cool summer nights spent on golf courses Scorching hot summer days spent at the pool, babysitting children who were so full of life for parents who were so full of money. I am from a place where you always have a friend, a shoulder, a rock. From a place where it’s okay to cry, okay to have a breaking point, okay to say when enough is enough. From a family where my mom is my role model and my best friend-someone I would never want to disappoint. I grew up loving Grandma’s house and the food that brought everyone together. I grew up with "every other weekends", a toothbrush at dad's house and a "See you Sunday" as mom fought back the tears. Grew up playing school with my mom’s old grade books and wearing my dad’s old police sweatshirts. I grew up with a big heart…some things don’t change.
My name is Alex Francisco and I am twenty years old. I will be twenty-one on March 14th! I am from a small town with no stop lights and we recently just got our first grocery store, a Food Lion. Although I have no plans to move back to Whispering Pines, my hometown, it will always be “home” to me. I have a 14 year old sister who looks up to me more than I realize and a golden retriever who carries around my old socks when I am not at home. My mom is a principal of a middle school and my biggest role model. I work at the Appalachian Child Development Center in the four year old class and absolutely love my job. I have dreams of becoming an elementary school teacher with a classroom filled with colorful bulletin boards, math counters and hundreds of children’s books. I want to be the best I can be.
